NEET UG 2025: NTA Adds New Rule for Tie-breaking; Check Details Here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the NEET UG 2025 application process on February 7, 2025, through the official website, www.neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates must complete their applications by the deadline of March 7, 2025. The NEET UG 2025 examination is scheduled for May 4, 2025.

The NTA has introduced a new rule to break ties in NEET UG 2025 scores if the existing tie-breaking criteria prove insufficient. According to the NEET UG information bulletin, if a tie remains unresolved after applying the seven-point tie-breaking method, an independent expert committee will intervene and resolve it through a random process.

NEET UG 2025 Tie-Breaking Criteria

If two or more candidates achieve identical marks/percentile scores in NEET UG 2025, the inter-se merit will be determined using the following criteria in sequential order:

  1. Candidates with higher marks/percentile scores in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the test.
  2. Candidates with higher marks/percentile scores in Chemistry.
  3. Candidates with higher marks/percentile scores in Physics.
  4. Candidates with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers across all subjects.
  5. Candidates with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology).
  6. Candidates with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers in Chemistry.
  7. Candidates with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers in Physics.

If the tie persists even after applying criteria (a) through (g), the NTA will resolve it through a random process under the guidance of an independent expert committee.
